Equipment

  • 1 high speed blender or food processor!

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen* banana (in small chunks) see notes above for substitutions
  • 1-2 cups frozen* triple berry blend
  • ¼ frozen* avocado (in small chucks) optional!
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • ½ cup almond milk* any type works!

Optional:

  • ½ tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 1 tbsp almond butter or any nut butter!
  • ¼ cup greek yogurt or dairy free!

Topping ideas:

  • ¼ cup rolled oats my all-time favorite topping
  • 2 tbsp cocao nibs
  • 2 tbsp chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp nut butter
  • 2 tbsp coconut flakes
  • ½ cup granola!
  • 2 tbsp hemp seeds
  • ½ cup fresh fruit bananas, berries, strawberries, kiwi, etc!

Instructions

  • First, add all the smoothie ingredients into your blender. For most blenders, start with the frozen banana and avocado at on the bottom, as that is the hardest for the blender to blend.
  • Add the milk into the blender last, then blend until smooth. You will probably need a blender tamper to stir everything until combined. In this recipe, we use minimal liquid to make sure our smoothie is as thick as possible. It may take patience and maneuvering to get your smoothie smooth. Sometimes I have to pause and let all my ingredients thaw slightly before blending again. See notes for details.*
  • Once your smoothie is done, top it with your favorite toppings of your choice! Enjoy immediatley!

Notes

*The amount of liquid you need in the recipe will vary depending on how many items you have frozen. You will need either more liquid or more patience if you are using all frozen items (banana, berries, and avocado). Water also works here!
*I have starred the frozen items because not everything needs to be frozen. I like to have as many of my items (banana, berries, and avocado) frozen as possible, but sometimes I don't plan ahead or have fresh fruit on hand instead. Just keep in mind that the more frozen items you have, the thicker your bowl will become. I like mine reallyyyy thick, but sometimes that's not realistic. If you are using fresh fruit, add ice cubes or frozen milk cubes. It may not be the thickest, but it will still be delicious. I normally have frozen berries always, but sometimes not the banana or avocado. And that's okay!
*Sometimes, you may need to pause your blending process if your blender is having a hard day. Let your frozen ingredients thaw slightly as they are before trying again!
